Ear Wax removal by Microsuction
At Ear Care South Wales, our microsuction procedure follows a clear clinical process to ensure safe, effective ear wax removal.
1. Initial Ear Examination Your clinician begins by examining each ear with a medical otoscope. This allows us to assess wax levels, identify any concerns, and check the overall condition of the ear canal and eardrum.
2. Specula Placement We explain that a sterile specula will be gently positioned at the entrance of the ear canal. This keeps the area hygienic and provides a clear view throughout the procedure.
3. Microsuction Equipment Overview You’ll receive a brief explanation of the microsuction machine — a medical‑grade suction device designed to remove wax safely while the clinician views the ear canal under magnification.
4. Comfort & Pace The procedure is painless, and we work entirely at your pace. Your clinician will pause or adjust at any point to ensure you remain comfortable.
5. Wax Removal Using controlled suction and continuous visual guidance, the clinician removes the wax precisely and safely.
6. Post‑Procedure Ear Check Once the wax is cleared, your ears are re‑examined with the otoscope. This confirms that all wax has been removed and allows us to assess the condition of the ear canal and eardrum now that they can be viewed clearly.
7. Aftercare Advice You’ll receive personalised aftercare guidance, including ear health recommendations and advice on future wax management if needed.
